Welcome my friends. I am really excited for today's conversation because we're kind of

changing up the type of guests that we have on this

podcast. Today we are talking with Bonnie Hammer, who is the vice chairman of NBC Universal.

And you all know like I'm not that easily impressed by people's jobs because of my background but I'm pretty impressed

And she's also the author of a new book that's coming out around the same time my book comes out called 15 lies women are told at work and the truth we need to succeed.

So we are all about the patriarchy's lies here on this podcast, so I'm very excited to dig into

this.

But as I told her before we started, the unusual thing I do with introductions is I like women to brag about themselves.

And so I'm going to ask Bonnie to tell us in her own words, kind of her background, how she got to this, her career, and you know, to brag on herself a little. Well it's first and

foremost I don't usually do it that way but because Kara's asked I will somehow figure out that path. I would say I got to where I am by a lot of hard

work all the way back to starting with cleaning up dog crap on my very first job in

television and that taught me a whole lot of things first and foremost not grunting

it grunt work.

And then understanding that the only way

to prove your worth is to do that,

prove your worth on the job, regardless of what you're given to do and just stand out.

So I've been very lucky. I've had an amazing career mostly because I work with

some incredible people along the way,

a lot of women along the way.
