Hello friends. This is Scott Pauli, and I'm thrilled you've joined us for the weekend

pulpit. From time to time, it's my privilege to share a Bible message that God is used to affect my

life in a unique way. And today's message from God's word is from a guest preacher and

someone that is very special to me. I hope you'll get your Bible and follow along as we listen for the

Lord to speak to our hearts.

One part of my ministry that I really enjoy is doing premarital counseling with couples.

Most young couples that I know have some unrealistic and unstated expectations about what's going to happen once they get married. A lot of young men think that their wife is going to

immediately be able to cook them gourmet meals. She'll keep a spotless house all the time. She'll open it up

to his bonehead buddies two or three

times a week. She'll look her Sunday best 24 hours a day all while working a full-time job

that makes more money than he does. He might need to adjust his expectations, right?

You might should get used to spaghetti and meatballs for a little while, helping out around the house, telling your buddies to find a girlfriend, and learning to appreciate that Tuesday morning variety of beauty just as much as the Sunday best variety, okay?

And they're both beautiful ladies, they really are.

A lot of young ladies expect their new husband to have the wisdom and sensitivity

of their fathers in a 22-year-old body. What she doesn't know is that that young man is a lot

like the college students I heard about last week who had a big party and decided it would be a good

idea to fill a five-gallon bucket full of ice, monster energy drink, and gummy worms, and drink off that for a few days.

You young ladies don't know what you're getting into, okay?

See, early in marriage, you learn how to adjust your expectations, and if you don't, you might not be married any longer, okay?

Well, what I found is that expectations can also be a problem for a lot of young Christians
