Summary

Episode 66 with Karis Knight

"I now realize why we’re all such great problem solvers — it's because we can’t stop thinking about the problem until it’s solved."

Karis Yves Knight is a visual artist based in Scotland. Her ongoing project called “The V.O.W (The Voice of Women)” came about in an effort to showcase how diverse and multifaceted we are as women. She interviews and gets to know her subjects and encourages them to offer their unique perspectives and life experiences, and then she also paints them to accompany their stories. It’s a beautiful project and endeavor and it’s incredible to think she’s only 24.

Karis and I talk all about how isolated and radicalized we’ve become as a society and how important it is for projects like these that highlight our similarities and how good it is for our souls to empathize and feel connected others.

We also talk about the concept of masking and ADHD, and how often we are told that we’re too much, so we pull back on our natural impulses. We also discuss hyperfocus and burnout, especially around gigantic projects like her art shows.
