Hey, good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Monday. This is Seattle now. As a journalist, I would

jump at the chance to chat with Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos about their careers

and their impact on Seattle. Unlikely, either of those billionaires are sitting down with Seattle

now anytime soon, but today we're talking to someone who's spent many hours with these

titans of tech. Journalist Kara Swisher has reported on the industry for decades, and she's got

some axes to grind. We'll talk with her in a minute. But first, let's get you caught up.

This week, the City Council could start work on amending a law that requires companies to pay minimum wage to gig workers.

Seattle Times reports that representatives from companies like DoorDash and Instacart are talking with Council President Sarah Nelson.

Two months into the legislation, few seem satisfied with the way it's playing out.

Prices are up and the number of orders is down.

Eight finalists hoping for a spot on the Seattle School Board will take part in a candidate

forum on Wednesday.

The board will pick two new members to replace two who stepped down last month amid questions about their

residency. That's Wednesday night at 6.30 at Lincoln High School. And who's ready for some

Mariners baseball? Opening day is Thursday. The team will host the Boston Red Sox at T-Mobile Park.
