This morning, I am continuing the series on contend.

The passage we're using for this series is in the book of Jude.

And right now I'm going to give you a little secret.

If you ever want to impress someone,

you can tell them you read an entire book of the Bible

because there are five books of the Bible

that are just one chapter long.

Obadiah, Philemon, Second John, Third John, the book of Jude.

You can read it in one setting, five minutes you're done.

You say to someone like, I read a whole book of the Bible today.

That's how close I am to God.

Jude, very likely, wanted to write something longer.

He actually begins by saying,

I wanted to write a whole thing on salvation, but instead I have to write a

warning.

He said, I had to write and tell you to, and here's where the verb comes from, contend for the

faith.

Because people have entered into our community who are actually tearing the faith. Because people have entered into our community who are actually tearing the faith apart.
