hunkered down, awaiting the birth of my child, actually. But yeah, feeling good and happy to

start getting back into a groove here on the podcast front.

and today we are joined by Julian Carr.

Julian is a compelling character in the outdoor industry, someone I look up to as a professional athlete

and as a business person and most

relevant to today's conversation, among other things, Julian is the founder of the Cirque series,

the short course mountain running event empire that has been growing and evolving in recent years

in which I think has enormous room to

scale into the future and to potentially act as a potent gateway drug to get more people into

the amazing, life-changing sport of trail running. Interestingly, though, Julian does not come from a trail running background.

He is a longtime professional skier, of all things.

A self-proclaimed extreme skier, multiple world record holder, X Games gold medalist,

and founder of the discrete clothing brand, a lifestyle apparel business for skiers, which he sold

recently to focus full time on the CERC series. Again, the thing that occupies the bulk of our

conversation today. But suffice it to say, he is an interesting guy and it's been an interesting

path. How did a pro skier identify an opportunity to start an

event series in trail running and how has he scaled it into one of the premier short course

trail series in the sport? I have never experienced it myself, but I hear people absolutely
