I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. The legal battle over Adnan Syed's murder

conviction keeps twisting and turning, even after prosecutors

freed him for more than 23 years in prison for a crime, he says he didn't commit. This week,

Baltimore prosecutors say they would not clear Syed's record, but joined his defense lawyers

and asking a judge to reduce his sentence to time served. The judge says she'll rule on that soon.

Syed was 17 years old in 1999 when his

high school ex-girlfriend, Heyman Lee, was found strangled to death. He was convicted of murder a year

later, despite no eyewitness testimony. But in 2014, the serial podcast raised significant questions

about the conviction and Syed's legal representation. His attorney, Christina Gutierrez,

trial. Syed's conviction was vacated in 2022, and he was released, but Lee's family challenged the

decision. If the judge denies his motion for a sentence reduction, Syed could be sent back to prison
