Hello there I'm Chuck Todd and this is another edition of the Chuck

podcast so I'm going to take this in a slightly different direction.

But in some ways, it's a conversation we talk about all the time, which is the issue of mental

health.

Whether it's the gun epidemic, whether it is social media.

We are growing more aware of things that create mental anxiety.

But we look at it in many ways as incident happens, anxiety created, mental health crisis

created. And we are sort of a, we're there as a society, we're sort of incrementally

accepting that that is something that we need to start thinking about as a policy, we need to figure out how to think about health care,

both as physical health care and mental health care, and we're moving in certain of these directions.

And yet, every time somebody of notes steps out and talks about their issues, it's still sort of, you can see the hand ringing.

Sometimes it's by the person itself.

Look at what we saw with John Federman.

He went very public, and certainly you had a handful of people detracting or wondering whether he was up to the job.

Most people were very embracing and very much, you know, saying,

hey, let's give him the space let's let him do this I remember

his growing up in Florida when Lottin Childs who was my senator for most of my

childhood announced that he wasn't seeking reelect Senator for most of my childhood

announced that he wasn't seeking re-election

after it leaked out that he was on Prozac.

And this was Prozac at the time

was a brand new drug that was being prescribed with those
