Summary

While he doesn’t usually get much press, Joseph, the man who raised Jesus, sets an excellent example for us to follow. As we study Joseph’s attributes in Matthew 1:18-25, we see how his conduct towards Mary and response to God’s plan give us a model of how we should live our lives as Christians.

So why don't you grab your Bible right now, turn with me to Matthew chapter 1.

We only got through the genealogy there in Matthew.

But I say only the genealogy there is kind of incredible.

It's an incredible genealogy. I heard a story of a proud

family, the Smith family, we're really proud of their, you know, family tradition and ancestry.

And they would always go around town boasting, you know, yeah, you know, we have senators in our family,

Wall Street wizards, and they were always going around. Well, the local paper

decided to do a story on this family's heritage because they had some of these famous people.

And so they had a specialist kind of look into their lineage and all that, and just to confirm.

But when the writer of the story, the local paper there came, told the family, well, we did some research and we found everything's true what you guys said.

But, you know, you also kind of have this situation.

They said, well, what are you talking about?

Well, did you know your great uncle was electrocuted in the electric chair?

He was a criminal.

And the family said, oh, dear, we didn't know that.

I was like, that's really horrible.

What do we do?

The author of the paper said, no problem, I'll handle it.

And so when you read this little newspaper article about this family's great heritage and lineage,

when it came to the great-grand-uncle, it said, great-uncle George occupied a chair of applied
