On this program, Debbie Milman talks with Jonathan Harris about his web and data-based art projects,

his relationship to time and memory and the sexuality of the internet.

I have been asking myself the question lately like what would it look like if the internet

had an orgasm? What do you think it would look like? Well I think it would maybe look something like viral content when there's a meme that everybody is all of a sudden staring at and saying like, oh my God, this thing, this thing is like, thing. Here's Debbie Milman.

Artist and computer scientist

don't often make it successfully

into the same sentence.

But in descriptions of Jonathan Harris, they do.

We could also add, statistician, storyteller, and designer into the mix

to get a little closer to what he's up to.

Jonathan Harris says his work explores the relationship between humans and technology.

His projects include We Feel Fine, where he took the phrase I feel or I am feeling from

millions of blog entries and displayed them in an interactive Java

applet which runs a web browser.

If it sounds complicated, the end product is intuitive and elegant.

So are as other projects, many of which have been exhibited in major institutions around the

world, including Moma and the Pompidu Center.
