Welcome to Bible Stories. We are your hosts Matt. Hello. And Todd. We are two ministers who love the stories of the Bible and we want to share them with you. And today's story is a well of a tale.

Today's story comes from the little book of Jonah.

And this is a unique book of the Bible.

It's a little different, Todd.

This is like not the cereal that you grab out of a box with a cartoon character on it.

This is the cereal you get from the bottom shelf that's in a bag,

and it has, like, a distorted-looking grandmother on it, and there may or may not be metal

shavings inside of it. You just don't know. You just don't know. But this book is unique as far

as prophetic books go, Todd, because it doesn't focus as much on the message as the messenger.

It's about God's sovereignty, his heart for people, and it's't focus as much on the message as the messenger. It's about God's sovereignty,

his heart for people, and it's incredible the care that he takes for large groups and also for the

individual. Well, Toddy, it is about 750 BC in Israel, and the Lord drops a word on Jonah. God wants Jonah

to head to a city called Nineveh and call it out.

Specifically, if the people of Nineveh didn't repent for their wickedness and egregious sin,

the city was going to be destroyed in 40 days.

That's a tough message, Todd.

We've all seen how to lose a guy in 10 days.

Imagine what you could do in 40.

This is scary stuff.
