Welcome to Bible Stories. We are your hosts, Matt, and Todd. We are two ministers who love the

0:17.7

stories of the Bible, and we want to share them with you. And today's story is

0:21.8

mm-mm-good. Is it ever, Todd? This is a special episode, Todd, because we're recording this

0:28.4

at night. Yes. Things are spooky. Late at night, yeah. Anything can happen. It's electric in here.

And speaking of happening, there's a lot of stuff happening with Jonah right now. We are halfway through this story. And we're going to jump on into scene one. We're going to cover chapters three and four of the book of Jonah. Scene one we're calling, past the sackcloth. Where we last left Jonah, he was being spat up onto dry land. 1:19.3

your boy is probably going to drown. So God has the fish spit him on the dry land. There's no

1:24.3

question if he's going to make it or not. And here's Jonah. He's laying on the

1:27.9

shore, no doubt exhausted, no doubt slightly decomposed. And God calls him to stand up and go preach

1:35.5

a warning to the Ninevites. And it appears that Jonah has learned his lesson because as soon

1:40.2

as God gives him the prompt, Todd, Jonah makes the journey to Nineveh. And this place is

1:46.3

impressive. The city was surrounded by an inner and outer wall. The inner wall was 50 feet wide,

1:53.6

100 feet tall, 8 miles in circumference, and the outer wall was even larger, protecting fields and

1:59.5

smaller towns.

2:06.1

God wanted Jonah not just to preach to Nineveh proper, but the whole of its occupants.

2:07.7

Nobody's left out, Todd.

2:11.3

This is like Oprah's special things.

2:12.0

Do you remember that show?

2:12.9

Yeah.
