Hello, this is everything else, the FT Culture Podcast.

I'm Gris, commissioning arts editor.

Coming up on today's show, I'll be heading to Soho in central London to meet the

author, podcaster and storyteller extraordinaire John Ronson. He's the man behind books, including

The Psychopath Test, and So You've Been Publicly Shamed, and the hit podcasts, the Butterfly Effect,

and the Last Days of August.

I'm hoping to find out from him

why he's drawn to murky, secretive subcultures

from sites like Forcham to the KKK

and to exploring issues of shame and stigma in our society.

And I also want to talk to him about his latest project, the podcast The Last Days of August,

and the ethics of reporting on the death of a young porn performer.

So we're recording the podcast today from a very nice roof garden right in the city of London.

I can see St Paul's and the dome of the cathedral.

I can see tape modern, the shard, the walkie-talkie, various church spires.

This week is moving week at the FT.

We've moved from the south side of the river to the north side,

and our new office is right next to St Paul's.

This does mean we don't have a studio so we're actually sitting on a roof terrace enjoying the spring sunshine.

This week though, we left our offices and went to Soho to interview John Ronson.

His two most recent projects are two podcasts that I really enjoyed.

Both of them look at the porn industry, the butterfly effect and the last days of August.
