And so, here we are are herched on the precipice

looking over into the swirling mists below wondering what the future holds gripping the

safety ropes carefully is it time to let go yet is it time to release the fetters after

all what is there to fear what am I talking about well you'll find out won't you this

morning we awoke to the news that the people have beaten the multi-billionaire owners of England's top six football clubs as each one of them withdrew from the European Super League, like so many bottles disappearing off the top of a wall last night and started apologising to the fans for even thinking they could do such a thing. Mark my words, though, this is just phase one in a long battle that the owners will eventually win.

Last night there were tales of daring do doing the rounds, such as the one that had Manchester United Captain Harry McGuire confronting Chief Executive Ed Woodward over the plans, which resulted apparently in Woodward offering his resignation.

He's leaving the club.

If that turns out to be true, then Mr. McGuire will live in the

folklore of the club for a very, very long time indeed. But football supporters have a short memory,

of course, and it could all go horribly wrong any minute now. We'll be talking to former

Chelsea's first player Jason Cundee about what it means for his club and what it also means

for the future of football, because one thing is certain.

This has nothing to do with political pressure. This has nothing to do with fan pressure.

This has everything to do with them not quite getting it right. But mark my words, there will

still be some kind of breakaway European league at some point or other in the future.
