Hey, everybody. It's Matt. This is the 10-minute Bible Hour podcast, and I was watching this YouTube video or something on the internet where these people

0:21.6

were driving in a car, they're hesitating because to their left, there's this big rock wall.

0:27.0

The ground looks a little weird. It's raining real hard, and it just looks like it's a little

0:32.2

mushy. And the one person in the car is like, I think we're fine, let's go. And the person driving the car is, obviously, they're slowing down and they're bulking a little bit. Like, I don't know. And then the whole side of the mountain gives out and there's this massive landside mudslide and, you know, they start yelling swears and stuff and throw it in reverse. That's one of those things where sometimes you're

0:55.1

sitting with somebody and you're like, all right, you see it this way, I see it this way. Maybe we ought to do

0:58.4

this. Well, maybe we ought to do this. And then something immediately happens. And it just confirms for

1:03.0

everybody. Oh, okay. Well, now we know who was right. We get a scene like that in Matthew

1:07.8

chapter three here where we get a little debate between Jesus and John

1:12.0

the Baptist as to whether or not John the Baptist should be baptizing Jesus. Jesus shows up and is like,

1:18.0

well, I'm here to be baptized. John's going to be like, hey, don't think that's the right order of

1:21.9

things. I think you should probably baptize me and Jesus is going to be like, nope, you're the baptizer,

1:26.8

and this is what you're supposed to do

1:28.2

to fulfill all righteousness. And then right after John concedes and is like, okay, I mean, you're the

1:34.6

Messiah. I'll do it. Right after that, then this incredible thing occurs that absolutely

1:41.4

vindicates Jesus and causes John the Baptist and Jesus and everybody else there

1:46.8

to be like, oh, okay, well, yeah, in light of that, you were right, I was wrong.

1:51.0

Clearly, I was supposed to baptize you.

1:53.1

Also, dang, that was pretty amazing.

1:55.0

So here's the scene I'm talking about.

1:56.1

We're in Matthew chapter 3, and you've got, you know, really serious tension in Matthew's account of the

2:03.5

baptism of Jesus and the stuff surrounding that, whereas in John, you get a much gentler treatment

2:09.8

of scenes like this, whereas Matthew is willing to let you, the reader, feel the tension
