Wanted to spend some time with

you today talking about George Orwell, the author and writer. So tell us who was George Orwell. Why should

we care about his writing? George Orwell is a name we all know. We associate with a couple of novels,

primarily Animal Farm and 1984.

But for his entire life, he was basically a journalist. He wrote fiction, of course. He wanted to be a

novelist. And many of his early novels, and there are plenty of them, were not very successful.
