Summary

What a Creep
John Harvey Kellogg
Season 28, Episode 2

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes was the boring cereal in my Kellogg’s cereal variety pack, but it’s the one that started them all. And one of the men behind that cereal was John Harvey Kellogg.
John Harvey Kellogg championed nutrition and a holistic approach to health. But he was also a eugenicist, which, if you don’t know, is the inaccurate theory that humans can be improved through selective breeding of populations. He also advocated for forced sterilization of anyone he deemed unintelligent or immoral. Oh, and he launched a really messed anti-masturbation campaign that saw the genitals of young boys and girls mutilated.
John Harvey Kellogg: What a creep.

We are the podcast that talks about creeps from the past to the present. I love this creeper talking about today. You and I were just talking off mic. I think that's the term not off air, off mic, about the movie about Kellogg that stars Anthony Hopkins or is inspired by his story. Yeah, loosely inspired. Lusely inspired. Clearly not the same character because I think that movie's a comedy.

It tried to be. I said to her, this is the last time I went to a theater specifically to see a John Kusack movie, just to see a John Kusack movie, when I realized, you know, it would have been better to wait six months for this to be on video.
