Okay, so we'll go ahead and get started here in just a minute.

And when we do get started, we'll be picking up at the beginning of chapter 20 in the gospel

according to St. John.

As usual, the first, it was a long time ago now, more than seven months,

the first Bible study of the Gospel of John you can listen to online and remember the good old days and also

here by introduction to the whole book here is we're coming near to the close of the book

just to get us caught up to where we were and this will be pretty quick too because last

time we talked about Christ's

crucifixion in death and his burial, and that basically summarizes where we left off.

So in terms of the week, we left off as the sun was setting on Friday.

Remember that was, the name for Friday was actually Preparation Day,

because that was the day when preparations would take place for the Sabbath,

because, of course, you couldn't cook, you couldn't do what you work on the Sabbath, so all that would have to be prepared in advance.

And this year in particular, as we saw, that Sabbath was Passover.

So there were all the additional preparations for Passover and everything that had to take

place on that particular Friday. And so that included the burial of the dead. And so we saw

St. Joseph of Arimathea very heroically at great risk to himself, approaching pilot to ask for the body of a

condemned criminal, go in and retrieve Christ's body and bury it in his own tomb, which, as we

mentioned, was a new tomb.
