Father Stephen is a former Protestant pastor and Bible teacher in the Reformed Church,

but now an Orthodox priest serving at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston, West Virginia. Now there stood by the cross of Jesus

his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore

saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing by, he said to his mother, woman, behold your

son. Then he said to the disciple, behold your mother.

And from that hour, that disciple took her to his own.

And they added, of course, remember in italics, I mean, they added it home.

Which addition I'm about to disagree with.

There's a reading of this that seems to be the one that they're going with here.

I think they picked it up from the New King James Version.

I don't think this is original to the Orthodox Study Bible.

Because you can see the little subheading they added there that says care for Mary.

Care for Mary is not what's going on here.

Okay.

Because remember, Mary had stepchildren.

Right?

Yeah, Joseph had other children.

Jesus had brothers and sisters.

Right?

They're stepbrothers and sisters.
