Okay, we'll go ahead and get started.

And in just a minute when we get started, we're picking up at the beginning of the Gospel According to St. John, Chapter 18.

As usual, the first Bible study, actually I think they're up to chapter four in what's posted online right now.

But the first one is up there for my introduction to the book of John if I'd like to listen to that again.

As we pick up here, just to get us caught up here at the beginning of chapter 18,

we're at another transition point.

The last several chapters that we've read have been sort of,

I would say one long discourse divided into parts of Jesus speaking to his disciples

began after Judas left the upper room at the last supper. Jesus began speaking to the disciples.

Then at a certain point, they departed

from there and went to the Mount of Olives, and then he continued speaking to his disciples,

and then finally he prayed in front of his disciples and for his disciples, and then for the

world. And now we're coming to the conclusion of that prayer.

We've actually, last time we covered the conclusion of that prayer and the conclusion of this discourse.

And now we're sort of getting back into the action, as it were, as the story is picking up.

So the last several chapters have all taken place over the course of maybe a couple of hours.

We talked about how basically the entire second half of the Gospel according to St. John is the last week of Jesus' life on Earth.

And so, you know, the first half being 30 plus years of his life.

And so now we've seen even these last few chapters have been a couple of hours of one of those nights.
