but now an Orthodox priest serving at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston, West Virginia. So verse 22, and the glory which you gave me,

I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one. I in them and you and me, that they may be

made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent me

and have loved them as you have loved me so this continues to sort of unpack

right what he just said so jesus remember has been talking about his crucifixion in terms of

him being glorified right and so that glory that Christ receives, again,

he doesn't just receive and hold on to, right?

He says he's received it, he's giving it on to them.

This is that continuation idea again.

So martyrdom is being passed on.

Yes.

But in both senses.

Both in the sense of suffering and death and in the sense of witness,

you know, the original meaning of martyr.

Right.

The bearing witness.

And again, that has the goal of them being one.

And that, that oneness is, again, the oneness of the Trinity

is human persons experiencing that same kind of oneness in Christ.

I in them and you and me.
