I'm not supposed to say this, apparently.

This isn't a cool thing to bring up.

But seeing as I sat through Hillary Clinton's historic glass ceiling speech eight years ago,

I think it's important for us to take this moment in time and recognize the fact that Hillary Clinton,

whether or not Bernie Sanders wants to recognize it right now or not, he will,

is the first female nominee of a major party in this country's 240 year history.

That ain't nothing.

I am telling you.

I was raised by a mother who was interested in politics and was always telling me that

she never thought that there would be a female president in her lifetime.

That turned out to be true. Fortunately, we're at least having a nominee in her son's lifetime. That is a big deal in this country. It's a big deal to women. It should be a big deal to everybody else. I tweeted this thing out a couple of days ago. I got a lot of positive response to it. But I also got a lot of people saying stupid crap. Like gender doesn't matter.

And the only thing that's really important is a candidate's ideas. Well, you want to know

something? Gender does matter. And if the only thing that was important was a candidate's ideas, how come we've

had 44 presidents and none of them have been women? How come we've never had a major party

nominee who is a woman? I think it's time for us just to recognize this is a big deal. We're

breaking through a barrier. 75 or 80 nations in this world have had female leaders.

I'm not commenting on whether or not Hillary Clinton ought to be president,

whether or not you'll ultimately get indicted on the email thing,

whether or not Donald Trump would be a better president.

I don't care about that crap.
