Hey, everybody, it's Glenn Thrush here with Politico's off message podcast.

The primaries are mercifully behind us. I had kind of fun a little bit, I guess,

which is to say I'm drying out. It was up at Hillary's celebration in Brooklyn last week,

where hearts and port-a-sans were overflowing.

It is, I think, a moment now to reflect on the role that media has played in 2016.

And I guess I generally agree with the assessment that we have not cloaked ourselves with glory, but where I totally disagree is there is no such thing as media, folks.

Donald Trump will rail against the media.

I got to tell you something.

Let's talk a little bit about Trump railing against the media.

Forget about the larger question as to whether or not cable news has enabled him.

I believe it has to some extent.

But I will say, if you want to talk about a guy who's full of it, when Donald Trump gets up there and bashes the media, he has just gotten off the phone,

folks, with the same people that he's calling out by name in the press pit. He is full of shit when it

comes to this stuff. Nobody, no candidate is better with

the media or better with reporters in my experience, presidential candidate, maybe John McCain in

2000 than Donald Trump. Donald Trump has a tactile in your face conversational relationship with the media.

Now he doesn't talk to us, but then again, who the hell would

want to. But I think the, you know, the paradox here is the Clinton people, the Clinton campaign,

I have great relationships with a lot of people on the Clinton campaign. And we mercifully and

thankfully had Secretary Clinton on the podcast a couple of months back, very thankful for that,

but in general, not a good relationship with the media.

But the larger point, when he's bashing the media, there's no such thing as the media folks.
