It's always good to have my guest documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger with us.

He was most recently here for his film, Crude, but of course we know him for, I guess,

last year you're an Oscar nominee for the third of the Paradise Lost films.

Is that right, Joe?

Yes.

Finally, the Oscar team smiled upon us.

Well, you should have had a long time ago.

His other films, of course, include Brothers Keeper and Some Kind of Monster.

He's been here many times.

He's back for his newest film, Under African Skies.

A look at the controversy surrounding Paul Simon's Graceland album, 2011 was the album's 25th anniversary.

You know, I just thought about something you said when you were last here talking about

crude, and you talked about, you know, in those jungles, basically all the area around the

Amazon, you talked about white people treating indigenous people abysmally, which kind of connects

to the whole controversy

around Graceland, doesn't it?

Well, I mean, that depends on your perspective.

You know, I think the film, you know, under African skies, explores the controversy without

really taking sides.

And, you know, some people felt that Paul should not have gone to South Africa to record.
