If somebody told me when the show started that I would at one point be sitting across the table from Kathleen Turner, I'd still be laughing at you.

Why?

Because she's somebody whose work I've loved forever.

I've seen her in movies from, first of all, you've had such a great career working with first-time directors from Lawrence Kazden and Body Heat, Sophia Coppola in her film and her first

film, and now working with Anne Renton and your new film with Perfect Family. What's your

criterion for first time directors? Well, a lot of it, it always always starts with the script.

If the script isn't there, then I don't care who's directing it, you know.

But given the fact that the script will intrigue me and start to, you know, I'll start acting it in my mind.

I'll start thinking, okay, how would I do this line?

And with this, I actually be the woman's response.

As soon as I realize I'm hooked to that degree,

then it comes into play to meet, to meet the people and understand their ideas.

Now with Larry Kasten, of course, that was my first film,

and I had no idea what I was doing.

But it was most hopeful in the fact that it was his first film, you know, also.

So I understood that we'd be on this learning trip together, you know,

that he would be right up against the cinematographer saying,

why that lens, why that angle, why that light,

and I would be right next to Larry, you know, learning the same thing as we went along.

With Sophia, you know, I went out to meet with her on Virgin Suicides, and she had sent me the script.
