I'm Divia Aria on the BBC World Service.

Over the next two weeks I'll be meeting women across India who are stepping outside the box,

defying gender stereotypes and breaking down barriers in the world of work. This is Asia's largest truck park, Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar on the

outskirts of the capital Delhi. Over 80,000 people work here every day.

I've never really been to this part of Delhi before. Dusty, unorganized, lots of traffic.

Challenges do not get hit by any truck because it's all so a haphazard.

And as far as I can see, I don't see another woman here.

But there is a woman working here, Shanti Devi, one of the very few female mechanics in the whole country.

So working in the middle of trucks, but I am determined to find shanty Devi because I'm sure

she's going to stand out as a woman mechanic.

That's a woman.

It seems are fine. That's a woman. I've found her.

Shanti runs a small garage with her husband.

The couple came to the city from their village originally to find work and they used to run a T shop she tells me

But eventually found that they could make much more money repairing tires and fixing truck and motor bike parts.

She looks like she's unscrewing the whole scooter really.

So it seems that the silencer of this scooter is broken.

So why is shanty the only woman working here as a mechanic?
