to see this tiny island that boasts of its elimination of racism and sexism

alongside its beautiful beaches.

Could such a place really exist?

I came to see this place...

18 years ago Cuba was trying to climb out of a major economic crisis. Life was hard. That 22-year-old left Havana with so many

questions. Will the Socialist Society last through the new economic changes? Will the

truck with the rice rations arrive on time. What's going to

happen to all these women who will become my friends? This year I returned to Cuba.

Ladies, gentlemen, welcome to Labana? I returned to Cuba to Cuba to

to find the women and see what their lives were like.

Chapter 1, Norma Guillaire.
