Since the defeat of the military coup attempt there in July,

more than a hundred thousand people in an extraordinary range of professions have been suspended or sacked from their work.

I've been traveling round the country to find out the human cost of that purge.

So what are we looking at now? What does it say?

So it says official gazette? Yes, it is the official gazette from the official website of the Turkish government, degree number 672.

The name is Jundan Bardem, a associate professor at Tundjali University, a quiet courteous Ottoman history

expert in his late 40s who manages to see a certain black humour in his been sacked on suspicion of involvement in the attempted military coup in July

against Turkey's elected government, along with thousands of others whose names we can

see as we scroll down the decree. There's a huge long long list of names. the
