Hey everybody. Welcome to the Well. I am Dylan Bowman, and this week we're talking to Jimmy Elam, an ultra runner from Salt Lake

City, Utah. Jimmy popped on my radar a couple of years ago and has really been amassing a

really solid resume for himself in his short time on the ultra-running scene.

And this summer, in a year that was obviously very strange with few opportunities to compete,

Jimmy managed to win both the Tushers 100K and the Bear 100,

which provided a perfect opportunity to invite him here on the show.

And for those who are consistent listeners,

you might remember a few episodes ago when I was talking to Jason Schlarb that Jason mentioned Jimmy's name,

along with a glowing assessment of both Jimmy's talent and his future potential. So it was

great to have him on the show. And honestly, this was a really, really fun conversation. Jimmy

strikes me as someone who fits perfectly in our sport. He's super friendly. He's super humble,

but he's also really competitive and hardworking.

And he's a man who emphasizes logic over emotion, which is a consistent theme in our dialogue,

in something that I see as a major strength of his athletically.

So we talk about Jimmy's successful summer that I just mentioned. We do some

background. We talk training, racing, injury. We talk life balance stuff and finish with some of

Jimmy's future goals. It's one of our longest episodes ever. And I think it's really full of good content and good energy.

He's a super likable guy, and it was great to have a chance to get to know him a little better.
