Emmys Jill Soloway. The 51 year old who recently came out as gender non-binary and

prefer singular they pronouns has been working in the

business for decades. For most of that time they toiled more or less contentedly

under the radar as a TV writer on programs like the Steve Harvey show, Six Feet Under, Gray's Anatomy and United States of Tara.

But a few years ago, partly by their choice and partly out of necessity, they began working for themselves.

First on a 2011 short, Unaora Porfavore that got into Sundance,

then on a 2012 feature, Afternoon Delight, that also got into Sundance and was awarded the FEST's Best Director Prize.

And then on Transparent, a show about an LA-area family that is rocked when the 70-something person, long known to the adult

Soloway grew up knowing as her father but now calls Ma Pa or Parent.

Salahue not only created Transparent but serves as its executive producer with Andrea
