Hello and welcome to Bible Stories. I am your host, Matt Mullins. Your other host, Todd

Hamons is out. He will share more about what happened next week, but I'll give you a little bit

of a spoiler. Todd moved. So he is in the process of moving. He and his family from Florida to

Texas. So we were once again in the same state together. Very excited about that. But be praying for

Todd and his family as they take on a new ministry assignment and are moving their lives to a new

home. So be praying for Todd and we'll hear from him next week and get an update as to how things

went. But for us today, we're going to continue in our series of Jesus' first year of ministry.

We're going to be in the book of Matthew chapter three today. We're back with Jesus during his

first year of ministry and he's just been baptized by John the Baptist. This baptism, it was like

in inauguration. If you remember last week's episode where we see the Father, the Son, and the

Holy Spirit all together in this beautiful picture and God confirms Jesus' ministry. It begins

thing. So we're off to the races. The ministry of Jesus has started and the first thing that he does

is tough. Matthew four tells us that after this inauguration happened, after the the Spirit

descended like a dove and the voice of the Father spoke, it says in Matthew four, then Jesus was

led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. It's quite a way to kick things off

because when a pastor starts his ministry to a new church, Todd is hopefully going to experience

something like this. There's usually a series of things like dinners and some celebrations. People

might bring groceries to the new pastor to fill his kitchen. If he moved or they'll take him to lunch,

they'll laugh extra hard at some bad sermon jokes, whatever it is. They show just incredible

appreciation. There's a honeymoon period in which the pastor just gets to enjoy this new assignment

and life in general. Jesus, however, was immediately faced with adversity as his ministry began.

Now, know that the Bible tells us that Jesus was led into the wilderness in order to be tempted
