0:14.7	learning what it looks like to follow Jesus by working our way through the
0:18.4	Gospel of Luke. Who is Jesus? At this stage in Luke's Gospel, Jesus is a bit of an enigma.
0:27.0	He's conceived by the Holy Spirit, announced by angels and prophets in the temple.
0:32.0	He's a precocious teenager who's impressing the best Bible scholars of his day.
0:37.0	It's obvious that he's not just an ordinary person,
0:40.0	but what sort of person is he?
0:42.0	Is he just an exceptional human being?
0:45.0	Or is he a new Moses, a new David, a new human agent of God's Redemptive Plans?
0:51.0	Or is Jesus something more? Luke's not quick to to blurt out Jesus is God, but why? Well, in
0:59.5	their world the idea that humans could be the children of gods really wasn't very uncommon.
1:05.0	You see Romans thought that a godman ruled over their entire empire.
1:10.0	They called that godman Caesar, the Emperor Tiberius and so calling Jesus a God
1:16.5	man could lead to lots of problems here's at least three different ways it could lead to
1:22.1	problems first Luke was not a Here's at least three different ways it could lead to problems.
1:23.2	First, Luke was not a pagan.
1:25.8	Luke didn't have a big pantheon of gods.
1:28.4	But calling Jesus the God man might sound like polytheism. Luke needed to be careful. If Jesus is God, then Jesus is

1:43.6	The second reason that this could cause some troubles.
1:47.1	Calling Jesus the God man was politically dangerous.
