Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Girls' Camp podcast. I'm your host, Haley Raw. I am really so super-hyped about the topic of today's episode.

We are talking about Jesus, but we're talking about the topic of today's episode. We are talking about Jesus, but we're talking about the

historical Jesus. I have been studying my little heart out, and I've just been getting really

deep down this rabbit hole of what we actually know, historically speaking, about Jesus of Nazareth.

It's such a fascinating topic. It's fascinating from a historical perspective. And then, of course,

for those of us who at one point in our lives really believed in Jesus as the son of God or maybe God himself. It's

particularly fascinating because you also have this religious deconstruction lens on top of it.

The way that I got here and got so interested in this topic, I've been interested since

leaving Mormonism and then deconstructing Christianity,

but I haven't really fully dove in. I've kind of learned things and picked up

interesting factoids here and there. What led me to this deep dive right now is I recently

read the book, The Book of Longings. It's by Sue Monk Kid. I actually read this for the Patreon book club. I have a Patreon, patreon.com slash girls camp, if you're interested. And we are doing a book club there now. And this was the first book that I chose. It is a historical fiction about Jesus's wife. So the wife is fictional.

Some people speculate Jesus probably did have a wife. Some people think he didn't. But this author

basically imagines what it would be like to be Jesus's wife. And so reading this book,
