Well, hello there, tiny theologian. It's me, Mr. Truman, your neighborhood troubadour.

I am mighty glad you join me today as we keep walking through the Jesse Tree together.

Today's story is one of my favorites.

It's got a big boat, a wild storm, and one very important promise from God.

So go ahead and grab your Jesse Tree card for day three and your ornament with the olive branch on it.

Got it? Good. Now let's get into it. You remember how yesterday we talked about the fall, how sin entered the world through Adam and Eve's disobedience? Well, today we see how that sin spread.

The Bible tells us that the world became filled with violence and wickedness. It was a dark time.

But even in that darkness, God saw one man who walked with him, Noah.

Let me read a little bit from Genesis 6, starting in verse 5.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

God told Noah to build a big old boat, called an ark.

And when the rains came, the floodwaters rose,

Noah and his family, and two of every kind of animal,

were kept safe inside, safe in the storm.

And after the flood was over, Noah sent out a dove.

And guess what it came back with?

That's right, a fresh olive branch.

That little leaf was a big sign.

The storm had passed, the waters were going down, and new life was beginning again.

So God made a promise, a covenant with Noah. He said,

never again will I destroy the earth with a flood. And he put a rainbow in the sky to remind us

of that promise. Now let's take a look at what your day three card says.
