Blue and NBC drama series recently picked up for a second season on which she

serves as an executive

producer and stars as a Brooklyn detective turned informant.

With a 40 show a year Las Vegas residency with a new album and until just a few weeks ago with judging duties on American Idol.

We sat down in her dressing room at Radio City Music Hall moments after she teased Shades of Blue at NBC Universal's Upfront's presentation and as you'll hear for

yourself she spoke candidly about all kinds of things from how she emerged from the

block in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx and wound up in LA to what it was like trying to make

it in the business with an unconventional physical figure, and through difficult times like

the Geely and Benafir disasters of the early 2000s. She also talks about the importance to her and others

of becoming the first Latina to be paid one million dollars for a movie
