Today on the show, I'm speaking with labor and delivery nurse, author, and content creator,

Jen Hamilton. Growing up, Jen was inspired by her mother's nursing career and always knew

that she wanted to be a nurse herself. After attending nursing school, she began as an ER

bedside nurse, working her way up to assistant director. Eventually, she decided she wanted a change

from the chaotic nature of the ER and moved on to labor and delivery nursing, where she still works to this day.

However, during the pandemic, Jen began making nursing content and providing insight into health care on social media, and today, she has over 6 million followers across all platforms. She is also the founder

of Hot Mess Express, a nonprofit organization that offers house cleaning and organizing services

for women who need a fresh start. Her first book, which is called Birth Fives, Stories and Strategies

for an Empowered Birth just came out,

Okay, good. So we like to start this podcast at the beginning.

So what did you study in school, but much more importantly, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?

I didn't really have anything other than nursing in my mind growing up.

So my mom became a nurse when I was like five years old.

So I got to watch her at the kitchen table, like studying, and I'd go through her books with

her and see, you know, body parts that I didn't know existed.
