Ask Jeff and that is Michael Gerhart.

Michael Gerhart is Samuel Ash, distinguished professor of constitutional law

at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He is one of the country's leading constitutional historians, a

great friend of the National Constitution Center, and I'm so thrilled that he'll be here

both to ask the questions that have been submitted by you, our great

listeners on Twitter and social media, and also to answer some of those questions

himself. So we're going to jump right in. We have a series of great questions that you've submitted.

And first of all, welcome Michael. So glad you're here.

It's just great. Well, why don't you tell us the first questions

that our listeners have submitted. Here's the first question. What are the

salaries of the Supreme Court justices? Are the clerks paid or are they interns?

Excellent.

OK, so the justices of the Supreme Court,

at the moment, get $244,000 a year.

The Chief Justice gets a little bit more.

He gets $255,000.
