Can you tell us a little bit about what exactly social media marketing is and maybe put it into

with it as somebody in my generation as a millennial?

Social media marketing was something I discovered about 11 years ago when I discovered

social media for the first time and realized that I could reach the world without paying the

media moguls or begging the gatekeepers.

And social media marketing is a democratization of marketing where you can create your own

following and reach a global audience without having to pay for it or having to actually

basically beg those journalists that sometimes the gatekeepers to the mass media. So

social media is the democratization of media and that's really what social media marketing is

about, about building your own audience to reach the world. How has marketing changed in the last 10 years?

And how would you say it's evolved from newspapers, billboards, and TV ads into social media

marketing and the monster that that is today?

There's two big changes that have transformed media.

Number one, social media with the rise of the platforms

like Twitter and Facebook and then Instagram and Pinterest and LinkedIn. So there's a whole

variety of platforms that arose in the last 10 to 15 years that basically just totally disrupted

media. And so that was the media side of things.
