In Illinois, an elderly man called the police and reported that he had shot his wife to death in their home.

In Colorado, police responded to the 16th Street Mall for a reported stabbing attack,

which left two people injured and two victims dead.

And in Ohio, firefighters battling a blaze discovered the body of a young woman inside of a home.

On Friday, January 17th at around 12.40 a.m., officers with the Lombard Police Department in Illinois

received a call from a man who claimed that he had shot his wife. When officers arrived at the home

on the 500 block of North Clarendon Avenue, they made contact with the reporting party, 81-year-old

Charles Witter. He was detained at that time for the safety of himself and the

officers. Officers entered the home and made their way into the main bedroom, where they found a

woman suffering from what appeared to be, a gunshot wound to the head. The woman was still alive

when first responders found her, but they noted that a heavy amount of blood was coming from her head

and mouth. She was rushed to a local

area hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim was later identified

as 80-year-old Helen Witterer. When investigators spoke with Charles, he told them that he

quote-unquote went nuts after an argument broke out between the two during the early morning

hours. According to Charles, Helen wouldn't

stop screaming and yelling at him. This caused him to allegedly reach into his nightstand,
