On Friday, January 17th at around 12.40 a.m., officers with the Lombard Police Department in Illinois

received a call from a man who claimed that he had shot his wife. When officers arrived at the home

on the 500 block of North Clarendon Avenue, they made contact with the reporting party, 81-year-old

Charles Witter. He was detained at that time for the safety of himself and the

officers. Officers entered the home and made their way into the main bedroom, where they found a

woman suffering from what appeared to be, a gunshot wound to the head. The woman was still alive

when first responders found her, but they noted that a heavy amount of blood was coming from her head
