From the icy banks of Lake Michigan.

This is a Friday afternoon edition of TBTL, the show that's probably too beautiful to live.

Hey folks, I'm your host, Luke Burbank.

Boy is it cold here in Chicago today.

I think it's like six degrees or something right now, and then you get into windshield.

And who knows.

I have to say, I'm always a little dubious about the whole wind chill statistic.

Because you know everybody wants to talk about how cold it is and how they're part of the

world is colder than other people's.

And wind chill is the kind of thing that gives you almost unlimited room to come up with

a very, very low number.

In other words, the temperature is what it is.

But you know, if you add wind chill in, like last night I was out and people kept saying,

it's five degrees, but with the wind chill, it's like negative 8,000, which just you know

sounded a little implausible to me.

But then I went outside and in fact it was negative 8,000.

And it was unreal.

Anyway, I'm in Chicago because I'm participating in Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, the NPR news quiz,

which you will hear this weekend on your finer public radio stations.

It was a very fun show, Tom Baudet and Roxanne Roberts, where my fellow panelists also

Lucinda Williams was the, was the not my job guest.
