I've given a listener just a little overview James so take a minute tell us about you personally because we want to get to know you then give us an overview of your business

1:32.8

absolutely well thank you for let me be on the show today john I really appreciate it I am a business coach and consultant and that you know very generic terminology but I really help businesses and business owners or people you know just for their life build out a better plan and

1:50.0

I wrote a book this year called conquer the entrepreneur's crypto night and it's all about finding that sweet spot between the napkin and the binder you know we need to we need to get something written down to make it real and make it happen

2:02.7

but we need more than an napkin and less than that stuff that never gets looked at again so it's all about a process to get stuff done to really be strategic in your thoughts and intentional in your actions and find that right balance between planning and action it's been an amazing journey writing the book it took me three years took a lot of ups and downs through that but a lot of coaching with people a lot of stories in there about just how to make it happen my background I came out of the air force

2:31.7

as a captain and really felt a big divorce a big void in my life because that's what I had always wanted to do growing up and after five years it wasn't it wasn't clicking anymore and became a management consultant and been doing that for about 12 13 years and then you know about four five years ago gotten involved in this entrepreneurial thing it's not my background being military brat being in the military myself and just started saying wow this is what I really want to do

3:00.7

so I want to work this hard I don't want to be a partner in the company I want to own the company and so that entrepreneurial spark clicked and it's just been an amazing journey since then a lot of mentors a lot of learning a lot of teaching a lot of podcasts and here I am now with the book with the business growing and you know things are just starting to take off it's a lot of fun

3:21.7

first and foremost James thank you for your service I love having fellow veterans on the line because it is a different mentality it is a mindset shift and being an officer in the army for eight years I know the struggles that I had embracing entrepreneurship it wasn't immediate it took time it took me reading a lot of books listening to a lot of podcasts and really breaking down a lot of barriers and walls that I put up

3:45.7

and also I want to share with both you James and fire nation something I'm pretty proud of I think I spelled kryptonite correctly on my first try

3:53.7

yeah I get that one every once in a while I haven't bought all the domains yet for it but you know it's just like people trying to spell entrepreneur it's really tricky and I just love when people can get it right the first time so I expected to have word come up incorrectly correct me when I typed it in but sure enough I think I got it I think I've watched Superman enough times

4:14.7

yeah between entrepreneur kryptonite and woosly I nobody's going to be able to find it so James I know you've listened to a number of entrepreneur on fire interviews and you know that we start every interview with a success coach we really want to get that motivational ball rolling so take it away well I got a lot of quotes I went through and thinking about this but I think the one that I wanted to share with you is from Walt Disney it's kind of fun to do the impossible

4:41.7

break that down for us James because Walt is such an interesting guy and man if you want to read a great biography read his biography but what does that quote mean to you how have you applied that mantra in your life

4:53.7

well I worked on a lot of big projects in my in my work life and growing a business is probably the biggest project I've ever done if you if somebody tells me that I can't do something I'm going to prove them wrong that just gets me going it's like no I want to prove that wrong

5:08.7

and so that extra on that extra motivation that comes from trying to do what either I think is impossible or somebody else's thinking is impossible for me I'm going to go for it so I have jumped into adventure like crazy the last couple of years doing bike rides and half marathons and the business stuff and writing the book and just I'm not very traditional anymore

5:30.7

so James let's take this moment now to turn the spotlight on this journey that we're touching upon let's go back to a time when you did fail I mean you definitely had your successes you definitely had your aha moments

5:43.7

but take us down to the ground level and tell us a story really take us there with you James to the time that you failed we want to be experiencing that failure with you and then show us the lessons you learned

5:54.7

so I've been on this entrepreneurial journey for about four or five years and about two years ago I was I had said a goal January of 2011 I'm going to launch my business full time I'm going to do everything that got to do and all this different stuff
