Welcome to Karen Hunter's awesome.

And this March, I am celebrating women because it is Women's History Month.

But actually, if I'm being honest, the way in which we use these months, and I like that we have dedicated

months, like Black History Month, Women's History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Indigenous

People's Month or day that I turn into a month. I think it's important because it gives

content producers a chance to highlight people that would never be

highlighted. But if we're being honest, we should highlight these people every day. We should be having

celebrations and conversations about people that we don't know every single day. So on my show,

the Karen Hunter show on Sirius XM, Urban View, Channel 126, where

talking powers and becomes action.

I say it's everyday Black history, everyday Kwanza, every day is women's history.

But in this space on this podcast, I said, I'm going to share with you people who have

inspired me, people you may not ever hear about. So without further ado,

Jamila Jamil, Jamilah Jamil, now if you watch as much television as I do, you probably

have seen her. I first ran into her on a series called The Good Place, which was a really funny, funny show

starring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell.

And it was about people who went to hell, like they died and they went to a place that they thought was the good place, but

it was really like hell or purgatory and you would have to like do things to try to reconcile

with your life that you just left. It was very clever.

I can't even, I'm not explaining it properly.

But the good place had several seasons.

And that's the first place that I saw Jamila Jamil.
