Foundation to help me with a story that looks to be extremely anxious making in Europe.

The headline in the Guardian newspaper, EU fails to agree changes to migration laws

as Germany and Italy clash.

Some had hopes fate of a deal being struck with one sticking point being right to occasionally

breach detention center standards.

We're looking at migration, European style.

When last we spoke with Lorenzo, the numbers were stark on a small island called Lampedusa

which is part of the Sicilian chain.

There were 6,000 residents and 10,000 migrants crossing the 70 kilometers from Tunisia.

That story has not improved in these last days and Italy has appealed to the European Union

for help.

The European Union is not responding in any substantive fashion.

At the same time, politicians in Germany are making extremely unacceptable remarks about

Italy's role in this and what Italy must do.

Lorenzo, I'm going to get lost if I have to use another paragraph here.

This is Germany being cruel towards migrants and towards Italy in particular.

How so?

What is Germany doing about the migrant situation?

Because it's a European problem, not just an Italian problem.
