Lorenzo Fiore to report on not one but two natural phenomena damaging the people of Italy.

And there are stories here that reach back thousands of years and also reached back to 1965 when Lorenzo and I were a little younger.

First, we begin with the earthquake and the damage to Naples.

The NBC report indicates that there's a dormant volcano underneath the peninsula where Naples is.

And that is pushing the ground up.

But as you remind me, there are volcanoes in all directions, including Vesuvius.

I think that you did summarize very well what happened two days ago in Naples.

Let me tell you that this earthquake was the highest in terms of level ever happened.

And so people were absolutely scared. Of course, there were some damages, not very

much. The control are still going on. But what is important to say is that this is a phenomenon

not pretty common. Let's say, we also discussed this in the past, in some interview one year ago,

if I remember well. That area is a subject, particularly that area, which is nearby the volcano

Vesuvio. It's an area where, of course, the ground push the surface and move the surface.

It's not a deep earthquake, deep, I mean, in terms of depth in the earth.

But what is important to say is that all the specialists in volcanology are saying that this phenomena is not something

which is calling for an alarm that the Vesuvial can erupt again. You remember that Vesuvio

had the latest eruption around 1925-26 and after that is a dormant volcano, but still active. And this is the evidence

that is still active. But there is no sign in terms of, let's say, emission of CO2 and so on.
