Summary
Some neighborhoods carry a feeling you can’t really explain. In her part of Los Angeles, tragedy seemed woven into almost every street—murders, suicides, deadly accidents, even a plane crash that killed several people not far from where she lived. Over the years, the area developed a reputation for strange stories and unsettling experiences, but she never paid much attention to any of it. Weird things happened sometimes, but never anything that felt directly connected to her.
Then one night while walking her dog, she noticed someone sitting silently in the back seat of the family car.
At first, she assumed it was a trick of the light or a shadow from the streetlamp. But when she walked closer, the figure turned toward her.
And what she saw staring back at her should not have been there.
