This is CBS I'm the world. I'm John Batsow with Johnson Shanzer of the Foundation

for the Defense of Democracy. Helping me understand what appears to be random violence throughout

the region of the West Bank and Gaza and into Israel. For example, Israeli Air Force

hit targets near Damascus overnight or anti-tank missile from Lebanon explodes near border

or, and this most recently headline out of Israel, Israeli men killed in West Bank

shooting attack. Jonathan, computing all these incidents together with the Janine raids

and the apparently or the claimed independent acts of something called lion's den over

the last months, it appears that there is spontaneous outbreak of murderous violence.

And yet you mentioned Iran. If Iran is the money, so I always look to follow the money,

the Hollywood advice. But why now, what is this gaining Iran? Is it keeping the donors

happy? Is it satisfying some need in Tehran to light up the surrounding area around Jerusalem

and Tel Aviv now and again? Or is there some larger story ahead of us? Can you tell?

Yeah, John, that's the million dollar question in the Middle East. And I think the answer lies

in something that we've now identified as the campaign between wars. This is a term that

the Israelis use more and more in their discussion of things that are happening around the region.
