Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Friday. April 10th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the talks. A big question remains if the ceasefire with Iran is holding.

Still, talks to end the war are set to happen tomorrow.

Vice President J.D. Vance, along with President Trump's preferred negotiating team, planned to meet with Iran in Pakistan for the first face-to-face talks since the war began.

And security is tight in Islamabad in preparation of these negotiations.

Iran, though, is now warning that they won't show unless Lebanon becomes part of the ceasefire and Israel stops attacking. More on that in a second.

But the other element of the ceasefire really never even took hold. We're talking to the

Strait of Hormuz. It is still shut down. And Trump is now acknowledging that even, saying

that Iran is violating the ceasefire by, quote, doing a very poor job of opening up the Strait of Hormuz.

Back to Lebanon now, the deadly Israeli military offensive targeting Tehran-backed Hezbollah there continues.
