This is CBS, I on the World, Bill Rajum, my colleague and co-hosts, and Seth Fransman of the Jerusalem Post, the Foundation for the Defense of Democracy, and the author of the new book, The October 7th War.

Seth, we have two possibilities in 2025. Binary. We'll begin with the Harris campaign. Is there any indication

of the Harris administration's approach to the seven fronts that Israel's fighting on?

I think the Harris administration, it looks like, would be more critical of Israel's approach to

Gaza, maybe El-Milan's well, probably won a ceasefire.

And that would then, in theory, set in motion other ceasefires relating to or reduction

of hostilities with Iran, perhaps.

So I think the sense is that the Harris administration would want to return to a more

consideratory approach to Iran, maybe similar to what

you saw on the Obama administration. So slightly less tough on Iran than the Biden administration.

But you know, you never know it necessarily exactly what will come down because it's not

entirely clear who our team will be or how much it would just be more of the same in terms

of what the Biden administration was doing. And what about the hostages? Any indication there would the

Harris administration be more for the hostages or hesitate as we see now because there's always

new demands from Hamas and Mr. Netanyahu is not making concessions that are outsized.

Well, the track record here seems to have been a bit dismal in the sense that you have

American citizens held by Hamas for more than a year. You have American citizens murdered by

Hamas. And the U.S., quote-unquote, major non-NATO ally Qatar, is hosting Hamas.

I mean, the whole thing seems a bit unconscionable.

Why would it, why would the U.S. not be leaning on its ally and order Hamas to release the hostages?

You'd think that would actually kind of relatively simple.
