Peter Berkowitz of the Hoover Institution writing at real-clear politics about a new book

entitled Israel Alone by a very prominent French author and philosopher Bernard Henry Levy.

The book is about philosophy because over the years, B.H.L. as he's known affectionately, has traveled the combat zones,

no matter where they are, no matter the risk.

He certainly was in Ukraine.

He's been in Israel right away, October 7th, he's been to many areas that are being

evacuated refugees. Why? He looks for big picture and the big picture in

this instance is philosophy's understanding of the word event,

EVE-E-N-T. But there's a difference here. There are two events and it's important to take them one at a time.

So as you said, Bern Rie Le V is a philosophy

in its mid-70s, he's written 40 books,

and unlike most professional philosophers,

he travels to war zones, reporting on outrageous against human rights.

This led him to the Jewish state on the morning of October 8th when he got off the plane,

and he found himself amid what he called an event with a capital E. Event with a lowercase

e means a happening, things that occur. Event with a capital e, he says, taking

this from a contemporary German philosopher refers to something
