Today, as expected, Apple released Mac OS Sierra.

This is, of course, a little bit of shift in naming and everything from the good old OS 10.

It does include a number of security fixes as well as of course a bunch of new functions.

Now if you are not quite ready yet to update all the way to macOS sierra there is also a separate update

for safari available that does apply to os 10 el capitan as well as mavericks so this is something

i would recommend it does fix a number of remote code execution vulnerabilities.

Safari 10 also changes a little bit the functionality of Safari.

So test it, make sure it doesn't break anything that you use on a day-to-day basis.

But if you want to be a little bit careful, then I would say update Safari first and wait a few days until you go all the way out and then update the operating system.

And just as a reminder, a week ago we released a guide on how to upgrade to Mac OS Sierra securely.

So this update is still available.

Actually updated it since the initial release.

A couple of weeks ago, Prime Krebs broke a story about V-DOS.

V-DES is a denial-of-service service that you can hire to launch denial of service attacks.

As part of this story, Brian did write about a leak of customer data from VDOS.

Now, with this story, there was also a company known as BackConnect

that offers anti-denial of service services and it was somewhat

questioned how much BackConnect was sort of involved in this leak and the possible

compromise of VDOS.
